Just as There are Veterinary Clinics in Boca Raton, We are Sure There are Places That Offer Doga

Just as there are veterinary clinics in Boca Raton, we are sure there are places that offer doga; that is, yoga with dogs. We have all heard about yoga and the benefits it offers, but there is a new movement called doga, which is simply practicing yoga with your dog. And yes, this is a real thing. You can actually purchase an instructional DVD that shows poses you and your dog can do together.

Doga caught on early in New York and California but has been working it way around the rest of the country. And if you think this is simply a silly novelty, think again as there are several benefits associated with the practice.

Bonding

Doga is a wonderful way to bond with your dog. Participating in these yoga poses with your dog makes you two working partners and is the perfect way to improve your human to dog relationship. Just think about the money you save not having to go to human/dog therapy because the relationship isn’t working out. But seriously, doga strengthens the “pack” bond your dog perceives with you. This helps with the day to day activities you do with your dog and also helps in training and behavior corrections as well.

Recovery

It is believed that doga is a great way an injured dog can recover quicker from an accident and help dogs with canine arthritis. Doga is also believed to help aging dogs with pain issues as the gentle motions can relieve muscle tension. And if your dog has lost strength due to age or an injury, doga can help rebuild it. Of course, there are no studies that prove this, as of yet anyway.

Exercise

It is common knowledge that yoga is a great form of exercise; so at the very least, doga offers you and your dog the benefits that come with a yoga workout. If you or your dog could stand to lose a few pounds, doga just might be your answer, especially in the winter when engaging in outdoor activities is more difficult.

Relaxing

As with traditional yoga, doga is a practice in relaxing and breathing exercises. If you have a dog who is a bit overactive, doga is something you might want to try to get them to calm down. Doga is a great way to burn off that extra energy. Just as you find yourself stressed out from time to time, Fido suffers the same. Gentle massage and stretching that doga offers helps both dog and owner calm down.

Social

Doga is a great way for both you and your dog to meet others. Maybe dog parks aren’t your thing or you otherwise don’t get out of the house much, so doga is a way you and your dog get to socialize. This could also be an important step in getting your dog accustomed to people and other dogs.

Entertainment

Let’s face it, watching other people perform yoga poses with their dogs is certainly a sight to see.
